Michael McNeal A.K.A " Brotha Mike "was born in Detroit, MI, a city known as the birthplace of Motown Music and a recognized Gospel platform of some of the greatest in the industry, such as the Clark Sister, the Winans and many more. An art form that has been imprinted on his life. Growing up on the lower eastside of Detroit and graduating from Northern High School. At the young age or 8 years old, he realized that music was a passion and he wanted to pursue his dreams. As a teenager, McNeal became the music director and pianist of Morning Star Baptist Church’s Youth Choir. Under the pastoral leadership and founder the late great Rev. Samuel Joseph Glover.McNeal at 14yrs old ventured off into his desire and passion of the art of music. He study under the direction of the late great Rev. Charles H. Nicks, Jr. of the St. James Adult Choir and the Grinnell Organ School of Detroit, MI. As McNeal began to venture off into his love for the piano, he did so while working the family business by overseeing property, convenience stores, music venue’s etc. During this time he began to cultivate the gift and talent of music that God had blessed him with. McNeal was influenced by so many great singers and artists such as Steve Wonder, Aretha Franklin and James Cleveland. He further went on to sing with the late great James Mark and the Voices of Heaven. Then going on to sing with Minister and now known as Bishop Andre (Sonny) Woods (I Feel Like Going On). He has had the pleasure of recording with artists such as Dorinda Clark-Cole, Twinkie Clark and Jennifer Holiday. McNeal has even been blessed to be in several local plays and events like the Detroit Praise Fest, plays like T.J Hemphill’s Perilous Times and Your Arm’s Too Short Too Box With God.Brotha Mikel serves as one of the leading soloist of the choir under the direction of Dr. Michael Fletcher at Second Ebenezer Church Detroit, MI. Where the Honorable Bishop Edger L. Van II serves as Senior Pastor, in whom has been a blessing to the life and ministry of McNeal as a worship leader. Brotha Mike performed his song (My Brothers) at Second Ebenezer Church’s “EB Rocks the Park” in July 2016, at Chene Park Amphitheater, Detroit, MI. He went on to perform at the Chicago Announcers Guild’s 21st anniversary in Oct 2016.Currently God is taking McNeal in several directions. He is currently doing voiceover work under the direction of the talented Kate Hart voice over and vocal director. He’s also studying under the direction of the renowned classically trained Pianist and Vocal trainer Dennis Ryan. He is requested to perform at numerous wedding, home-going service and local gospel events. After years of nurturing his talent, he has finally stepped out as a solo artist completing his debut EP project entitled “Second Changes”, which was release December 2016.
Brotha Mike humbly recognizes his purpose and assignment in God. His goal is to use the gift of music as a platform to fulfill the purpose and task at hand, to minister to God’s people thru song.
